By Josh
I've found that the only material that won't make my feet sweat and subsequently get cold is wool, and as close to 100% wool as possible. Most of SmartWool's socks are 60-80% wool, which is much higher than most other "wool" brands after doing some research. Because of this, the SmartWool socks perform great for all day comfort and keeping my feet at a good temperature, while being able to wick out moisture and breath when they do get hot. I also noticed they kept my feet warmer if the socks do get wet as I found out at a rain soaked golf outing. With cotton, my feet were cold when wet, but not so much with wool. Another plus is these socks were sewn in the USA (with imported materials though), but it's better than being 100% imported.
The negatives are, wool is a bit more "slippery" as in I noticed my foot moves around more with in my shoe than with cotton (possibly also because the wool socks are a bit thinner and I broke the shoes in with cotton socks) and they can be very slippery on hard wood or tile floors, so be careful with that.
One last negative is they are pretty pricey compared to cotton or more generic socks, but I would say the comfort, even after a long hard day on my feet at work, is worth the price over having cold and sore feet with cotton or polyester.

These socks will keep your feet warm in the winter and cool in the summer. They will also control sweating and foot odor. They do it all.
If I had one thing bad to say about them, is they're expensive... but well worth it!

By David W. Clark
Hard to find wool socks. Pricey but great quality and wear like iron. Stupid rule on number of required words.
